Award-winning home models World Cup theme for Care Home Open Week
Brampton Manor care home in Newmarket has hosted a special FIFA World Cup Lego club to celebrate Care Home Open Week.
Brampton Manor won the Intergenerational Connections award at the National Activity Awards in January. It hosts a regular Lego Club organised by charity Epic Dad during school holidays. With Care Home Open Week this year following a World Cup theme, the home decided to build a Lego replica of the World Cup trophy.
Care Home Open Week is a nationwide campaign organised by Championing Social Care that helps care homes to open their doors, welcome people in and show the public the real heart of social care. It is taking place this year between 15–21 June, the opening week of the FIFA World Cup.
Rich Keeble, founder of the Epic Dad charity, said:
“It really is wonderful to partner with this wonderful care home to provide inter-generational Lego Clubs. It’s a great, inclusive activity where they can be creative together”
Ameet Kotecha, Founder of Boutique Care Homes, is also a Championing Social Care Ambassador. He comments:
“I am proud of the way we put inter-generational connections at the heart of the Brampton Manor ethos and I am delighted that we are hosting this event for Care Home Open Week. It is a great way to shine a positive light on our links to our local community. It will be fantastic fun too.”
Epic Dad are taking the Lego model World Cup trophy on a tour of their Lego clubs so they can all be involved in its construction. They aim to return to Brampton Manor at the end of the tournament with the completed model.
The model-building session is just one of hundreds of ways that care homes up and down the country are getting involved with Care Home Open Week and bringing their communities into their homes.
