Championing Social Care is delighted to announce the appointment of Vishal Shah as its new Chair, as the organisation continues its mission to shine a positive light on the extraordinary people who live, grow and work within social care.
After five years as Founding Chair and the visionary behind Championing Social Care, Avnish Goyal CBE, has passed on the baton following the election of Vishal Shah, who will chair the Board of Directors as the organisation enters its next phase of growth and impact.
Volunteer-led and sector-driven, Championing Social Care exists to raise standards, enhance public awareness of social care, challenge outdated perceptions, and build a thriving national community of ambassadors and supporters. Through innovative, high-quality programmes, the platform works to shine a positive light on the extraordinary people who live, grow and work within social care. Through a collective effort, Championing Social Care seeks to inspire a shared ambition to shape a future in which social care is not only sustainable but also valued and celebrated, delivering better care for generations to come.
Speaking at a reception attended by more than 70 Championing Social Care Ambassadors, Avnish Goyal said:

I am delighted to hand over the role of Chair to Vishal Shah, who brings deep sector experience, values-driven leadership and enormous enthusiasm for our mission. I look forward to continuing to support the organisation as it grows its impact and reach.”

Through programmes such as Care Sector’s Got Talent, Care Home Open Week, The Great British Care Cycle Relay, the Care Sector Christmas Lunch and new initiatives including the CSC Masterclass and the ‘Who Cares Wins’ care careers conference, we are creating powerful opportunities to showcase excellence, talent and innovation across the sector.

Avnish Goyal will remain an active supporter of Championing Social Care and a member of the Board of Directors, supporting the organisation as it seeks to expand its reach, deepen public engagement and strengthen its national voice.
About Vishal Shah
Vishal Shah has more than 20 years’ experience working at senior level across health and social care. He has been actively involved with Championing Social Care for the past five years, serving on its Committee, acting as Vice Chair of Care Home Open Week, and leading the Great British Care Cycle Relay.
He is Founder and CEO of Banyan Care, a specialist home care provider; Trustee and Treasurer of Care England, the largest representative body for independent care services in England; and a Board Director of LogMyCare, an award-winning digital care planning platform. Vishal is a strong advocate for innovation, collaboration and workforce development, and an active voice across the social care sector.
